Treating Common Carpet Stains

Did your child just walk into your home and track mud throughout it, or
did one of the guests at your latest get-together accidentally drop a
cup of coffee on your new carpeting? Regardless of the situation, there
are some simple steps you can take to combat
carpet stains. Really tough stains might require Kyle professional carpet cleaning,
but you can attempt to remove any type of stain yourself by following
these tips.
Mud Stains
To clean a mud stain from your carpet, let the mud dry and then vacuum
up any large clumps that are left behind in your carpeting. From there,
mix a teaspoon of a mild detergent with a cup of warm water and use it
to blot all of your mud stains. Then, use another mixture of a teaspoon
of ammonia and one-half cup of warm water to blot the stains again. Once
that is done and your carpeting has dried, your mud stains should be gone.
Coffee Stains
As soon as you spill a cup of coffee on your carpeting, grab a towel and
do what you can to absorb as much of the coffee as possible. After that,
use a sponge with a small amount of dish soap on it on the stain to lighten
it even more. Finally, create a mixture of one-quarter cup of white vinegar
and one-half cup of warm water to use for carpet stain removal before
blotting the entire stained area with another towel to get the remainder
of the stain up.
Pet Stains
If your pet has an accident, spring into action immediately and use paper
towels to absorb as much moisture as you can. Once that’s done,
rinse the stain with a mixture of warm water and dish soap before creating
a mixture of one-half cup of white vinegar and one quarter of warm water
and using it to clean up the rest of the stain. You should also consider
professional carpet cleaning once every year or so if you have a pet that
has had multiple accidents inside your home.
